Thank Ganesh for natural deoderant amirite??

We are exposed to more chemicals on a monthly basis than our grandparents were in their entire lifetime! DAS CRAY!

It is so important to keep your detoxification channels clear ( i.e your lymph-nodes!) so that your body can naturally excrete excess toxins and hormones!

For that reason I make all of my own deodorant! If you don't have enough time or energy to make your own, there are PLENTY of natural deodorant companies that are creating ripples in the holistic community!

My DIY Deoderant Stick recipe:

1/3 cup coconut oil
1-2 tbs shea butter or cocoa butter (or a mix of both )
3 tbs beeswax
2 tablespoons baking soda (Omit this if you have sensitive skin and just use extra arrowroot or cornstarch)
1/3 cup organic arrowroot powder
*Optional: Essential oils of choice – I used about 20 drops of lavender essential oil and also like citrus and frankincense*
*optional 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil*

Directions:
Combine coconut oil, shea (or other) butter, and beeswax in a double boiler, or a glass bowl over a smaller saucepan with 1 inch of water in it. Combine in a quart size glass mason jar with a lid instead and place this in a small saucepan of water until melted. This will save your bowl and you can just designate this jar for these type of projects and not even need to wash it out.
Turn the burner on and bring water to a boil. Stir ingredients constantly until they are melted and smooth:
Remove from heat and add the vitamin E oil, baking soda, arrowroot powder and essential oils. Gently stir by hand until all ingredients are incorporated.
Let cool for 10 minutes or so.
Pour mixture into container of choice ( I use a reusable deodorant stick) and either leave out over night or put in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes.

Note: If you are transitioning away from chem-based deodorants, you may notice a bit more odor for the first few weeks of using a natural alternative. This is because your body is releasing any excess toxins from your lymph and adjusting to the new product. This is normal and will pass as you continue to nourish yourself with naturally!
